I have a tricky relationship with a close family member, and this was the trigger to try and get some clarity around it and understand why I was upset. At the outset I thought I could ‘solve it’. I learnt over the last 4 months, working with Delphine, that my feelings are right and that they cannot be ‘solved’ or fixed. I need to acknowledge them, recognise them and listen to them more.

It was 12 hours of time for me. It was time to stop and reflect on my life. I work full-time, have kids and a husband who travels for work. Some days were so rushed I didn’t always know if I would make the call or have the energy for it, but I did.

It was a good reminder to have goals and time-slots in the diary that are non-negotiable. It was challenging when I was upset, or surprised that I was upset. On some calls, I would get memories pop up as I was telling Delphine about an event or a time in my life.

I was able to have real conversations with family members about our relationships, for the first time. These needed to happen, and they were better conversations because of my work with Delphine.

I am also much more aware of others’ reactions, emotions and I listen more, especially to my kids. When my kids are upset, I used to say ‘it’s fine’, ‘don’t worry’, and rush them on, so they would forget about it. I now stop myself (most of the time), and let them tell me what they want to do, and what’s really going on for them. 

Everyone needs to find the time to think about themselves and their life. It is not easy and takes time, but it will make things easier in the long-run if you understand yourself more and the people around you.
